personal statement
My name's Kyaw Zaw Hein, but I also go by KZH. I was born and raised in the so called golden land of Myanmar and is currently a senior at Yangon International School.
All my pieces are guided by the central question of “In what ways are humans impacting the environment?”. With the urgency to reverse climate change, the entire world is beginning to develop a transition to enter an environmentally conscious state of mind and I thought that I’d take a chance to visually illustrate the actions that have been the root cause of it all. Based on my own knowledge and the addition of extensive research, I aim to produce artworks that convey a certain topic that provide an answer regarding the inquiry while having their own unique elements. My goal is to indicate the countless methods in which humans contribute to the detriment of the Earth, but in recent works, I have tried incorporating the usage of metaphors and symbolism for a more sophisticated body of work for viewers to develop deeper connections, as my earlier works were simply verbatim of the answers while later pieces became more metaphorical. To further foster my concentration, I portrayed real and sometimes exaggerated emotions that integrate the opinions people have on the actual issues. This is to introduce oppositional views to my own and critique it, but ultimately it is to form a narrative that influences the viewers and connect it to a bigger picture.
